NURSING FOR HEALTH: A REVIEW OF THE CONTRIBUTION OF NURSES, MIDWIVES AND HEALTH VISITORS TO IMPROVING THE PUBLIC'S HEALTH IN SCOTLAND 1. Enclosed with this letter are copies of three documents:
2. These three documents are the culmination of some 18 months work in a review that has engaged a wide range of interests. The report's recommendations are wide ranging and will be of interest and relevance to anyone working in the public health field in its widest sense, as well as all nurses, midwives and health visitors. 3. Work is already in hand to implement the key national recommendations. This will be led by a joint implementation group, charged with overseeing the implementation of both Nursing for Health and the Review of the Public Health. This will be co-chaired by Miss Anne Jarvie, Chief Nursing Officer and Dr Mac Armstrong, Chief Medical Officer. 4. Taken together, the recommendations laid out in Nursing for Health will both challenge and re-vitalise the contribution of nurses, midwives and health visitors to improving the health of Scotland's people. 5. Achieving this goal will require the commitment of many professionals and managers at all levels of NHSScotland and it's partners. 6. I hope you will find this both a useful resource and a driver for development within your organisation. |
