Summary NHS Circular PCA(M) 1999 (23) advised Primary Care and Integrated Trusts and Island Health Boards of the level of standard charges for services provided to GPs in Health Centres. This Circular revises the standard charge for heat, light and power to apply from 1 April 2001, where local alternative arrangements have not been agreed. Background The charge is set
per sq. metre of gross floor area and is based on the actual observed
costs for the latest data available from the NHSiS Property and Environment
Forum, of the upper performance quartile (the most energy efficient),
of Health Centres across Scotland. The most recent Report is available
on the following website (http://www.show.scot.nhs.uk/gpweb/gpweb/index.htm). The revised phased charges are set out below but will be reviewed again for 2002-03 on receipt of data from the Property and Environment Forum.
Action As it is customary to provide general medical practitioners practising from health centres with 3 months' notice, Primary Care Trusts, Integrated Trusts and Island Health Boards are requested to inform general medical practitioners of the revised charge as soon as possible. Yours sincerely
