Description
This letter contains the policy statement, a ‘Policy for NHS Scotland on the Global Climate Emergency and Sustainable Development’, which supersedes CEL 2 (2012) ‘A Policy on Sustainable Development for NHSScotland 2012’. The attached document has been prepared in consultation with Health Boards and relevant Scottish Government and public sector stakeholders. It takes account of relevant wider Scottish Government policies and existing statutory duties on Health Boards. The policy sets out aims and associated targets for NHS Scotland to work towards. The forthcoming NHS Scotland Climate Emergency and Sustainability Strategy will provide proposals for action to assist in meeting those aims and targets. The Policy for NHS Scotland on the Global Climate Emergency and Sustainable Development takes immediate effect.
