Description
The Seasonal Flu Immunisation Programme is essential to protect those who are most vulnerable to severe illness from flu.
Despite the challenges across the programme, flu vaccines were delivered to over 2.18 million individuals during the 2023-24 season.
Winter 2023-24 in Scotland saw 53.7% of the entire eligible adult population receive a flu vaccine. Vaccination uptake rates in the 65 years and over cohort remained high, reaching 79.8%. This is above the World Health Organization’s target ambition of 75%.
59.3% of the entire eligible childhood population received a flu vaccine, with primary school uptake our strongest group at 69%.
