Description
The following letter shares the following two new Scottish Government policy papers:
- Transforming Roles Paper 6: The Role of the General Practice Nurse – 2025
- Transforming Roles Paper 6: The Role of the General Practice Nurse – 2025 – Associated Document for GPs and Practice Managers
These have been commissioned by the Transforming Roles Steering Group chaired by National Education for Scotland (NES). The papers have been produced in collaboration with key stakeholders through the Transforming Roles Paper 6 Oversight Group, with representation including:
- General Practice Nurses (GPNs)
- NHS Territorial Board GPN Professional Leads
- NES
- Practice Managers
- Royal College of Nursing
- The ALLIANCE
- The Royal College of Nursing (Scotland)
- Queens Nursing Institute Scotland
- Scottish Executive Nurse Directors
- Scottish General Practitioners Committee
- Royal College of General Practitioners (Scotland)
Furthermore, NES have published a GPN Knowledge and Skills Framework on TURAS Learn, to be used in conjunction with these policy papers. I would strongly encourage you to consider and review the two policy papers and the NES Framework, to ensure that you understand the changing role of GPNs within general practice and within integrated community nursing teams.
